Celtic loan star makes worrying transfer admission

Celtic had an eventful January transfer window to say the least. On one hand, they made several additions in the form of Reo Hatate, Daizen Maeda, Yosuke Ideguchi, Matt O’Riley and Johnny Kenny, in order to add some much needed depth to their squad. On the other hand, they let quite a few leave on loan, after they had struggled for playing time in the first half of the campaign, under the management of Ange Postecoglou.

One such player was Osaze Urhoghide. The English defender had struggled to make his mark at Celtic, since his summer move from Sheffield Wednesday.

In fact, he was the first signing of the Postecoglou era at Celtic. Before joining the Glasgow giants, the 21-year-old had shown a lot of potential at Sheffield Wednesday, but he found playing time hard to come by at Parkhead.

Urhoghide was sent out on loan to KV Oostende in January and it looks like he would not be opposed to the idea of staying there beyond this season. While speaking with the Belgian club’s official website, he said:

"“I will be very happy if I still play at Ostend next season. I’m having a great time here, but I also felt great in Celtic! I now have to try to prove myself, so that KV Oostende will certainly consider the purchase option. And then we’ll see what happens.”"

Urhoghide seems open to leaving Celtic on a permanent basis

It is safe to say that the former Sheffield Wednesday player did not get a lot of playing time during his half-a-season spell at Celtic before moving to KV Oostende on loan.

And even though he has not played a lot of football there either till now, it has still been more than what he got at Parkhead.

Of course, it will all depend on whether the Belgian side are interested in signing him on a permanent basis as they are believed to have an option to buy included in the loan deal. Till now, he has not been good enough that one would see that happening, but who knows what the future holds.

According to stats from Transfermarkt, Urhoghide has made 2 appearances for KV Oostende till now.
