Australia is a country where Celtic already had a dedicated fanbase. And it is safe to say that since the arrival of Ange Postecoglou, the most successful manager in the history of the country both at club and international level, as the manager of the Hoops, their popularity has only grown Down Under. And as a result, the club have arranged a friendly tournament in Sydney for later this year.
With the World Cup being played in winter this year as it is being held in Qatar, it leaves a gap in the club footballing calendar.
And it appears that Celtic will be filling that gap by playing in the Sydney Super Cup from November 16 to November 20.
The rumours had already broken out that Celtic and the Rangers would both be involved in the tournament. And now, it looks like they will be joined by two teams from Australia in the form of the Western Sydney Wanderers and Sydney FC.

Of course, there has already been quite a bit of controversy surrounding the decision to be involved in a friendly tournament with the Rangers, away in Australia, in the middle of the season.
But then, this could be a good opportunity to grow the popularity of the club and Scottish football as a whole.
The Glasgow Derby will always be one of the biggest fixtures in world football and with the arrival of Postecoglou as Celtic manager, it appears that Australia might be set to witness it this time around.
Of course, it will be interesting to see where the two teams stand at that point of time, as there is a long way to go in the ongoing season. Celtic currently lead the Rangers in the Premiership by three points.
