Celtic have a massive game coming up against St Mirren. To be honest, with just 10 league games left to be played and a 3 point lead over the Rangers, every game is massive for Ange Postecoglou’s side right now. On top of that, they dropped a couple of points in the previous game against Hibernian, which ended in a goalless draw, and have not impressed since that first half against Aberdeen.
Thus, it is safe to say that a lot of eyes will be on Celtic when they welcome St Mirren to Parkhead. The Buddies have their fair share of worries right now though.
They have had a change in management recently, with Jim Goodwin leaving for Aberdeen. Stephen Robinson has been appointed as his replacement. Interestingly, if St Mirren are able to beat Celtic on the day, they will go up to fourth in the Premiership.
St Mirren will be without their top goalscorer of this season though, when they face Celtic. Connor Ronan was sent off in their previous game against Hearts.
St Mirren suffer massive blow before facing Celtic
It is safe to say that Ronan is an important player for this St Mirren team. According to stats from Transfermarkt, the Irish midfielder has scored 6 goals and provided 3 assists in 21 Premiership games this season.
Of course, Celtic have their availability issues as well, with two key players in Kyogo Furuhashi and David Turnbull missing for months. And also, there is doubt whether Giorgos Giakoumakis will be available to face St Mirren.
That is a massive worry for Ange Postecoglou’s side. In the absence of Kyogo, Giakoumakis has looked like the best option that Celtic have going forward and by quite some distance. At this point of time, Daizen Maeda just does not look ready to lead the line for the Hoops.
