Playing for Celtic has become a stepping stone to the top five European leagues in recent times and we have seen several players like Kieran Tierney, Virgil van Dijk, Victor Wanyama and others shine at the very top level following their Parkhead exits. This helps the club attract new signings but also to receive cash boost in the form of sell on clauses in the future.
One player who has been making a huge impression since leaving Celtic is Jeremie Frimpong. The young Dutchman joined the Hoops in the summer of 2019 from Manchester City as a teenager. He quickly broke through into the first-team and some sparkling display saw him become a regular starter.
That brought him to the attention of clubs around Europe and the Hoops would let Frimpong move to Bayer Leverkusen last January for a transfer fee around £11.5 million. And a further sell on fee was believed to have been included in the deal.
Frimpong is now showing great form in the Bundesliga and it looks like it might not be long before he is on the move again.
Bayern Munich are interested in the former Celtic star
A move to a huge club could well be next on the horizon for the former Celtic star. As reported by Sport1 (via HITC) Bayern Munich are a club interested in signing Frimpong. But the likes of Borussia Dortmund and Barcelona are also being linked with the young defender.
With it expected to take a transfer fee around €30 million for Frimpong to depart Bayer Leverkusen, there could potentially be a major cash boost in Celtic’s future.
This is a system that has certainly proven to be a success for Celtic in recent years and it does feel like it will continue to be the case for years to come.
