There are two Glasgow Derbies between Celtic and the Rangers still left to be played this season and a lot will be riding on the result of those games. As things stand, Ange Postecoglou’s side hold a three point advantage over their Glasgow rivals. But with more than a quarter of the league campaign still remaining, it is safe to say that anything can happen in the title race over the next 10 games.

Thus, fans must already be looking forward to the next two meetings between Celtic and the Rangers this season. But almost unexpectedly, there could be more to come.

Postecoglou’s arrival as Celtic manager in the summer has certainly raised the popularity of the club in Australia, a country where the Hoops were already quite popular to begin with.

And now, as tweeted out by Ray Gatt and as reported by The Scottish Sun, Celtic and the Rangers are set to confirm an incredible November friendly in Sydney.

Celtic and Rangers set to play friendly Glasgow Derby in Australia

It is safe to say that this is huge news and something that most people would not have seen coming. But it does look like it could be happening and it makes sense as well.

The World Cup is set to be played in the middle of the season, in the winter, this time around, as it is being played in Qatar. That will leave a gap in the club footballing calendar though and might be the perfect time to play friendlies in a country like Australia.

It is safe to say that this game could be huge for Scottish football and raise the popularity of the league in a completely different part of the world. Now, how ‘friendly’ can a Glasgow Derby really get? Guess we will see later this year.
