Celtic have some very good options up top at this point of time. Kyogo Furuhashi has been nothing short of a superstar since joining the club in the summer from Vissel Kobe. It has proven to be an inspired move on the part of the Hoops. On the other hand, Giorgos Giakoumakis is starting to show what he can do as well and looks like an important player for Ange Postecoglou’s side at the moment.
There are still question marks over Daizen Maeda even though he has scored a few goals of his own since arriving in January. It just does not feel like he is ready to lead the line for Celtic yet. And Albian Ajeti’s future at Parkhead appears to be hanging by a thread.
Amidst all this, Celtic have been linked with another player who has made an impact playing up top, in the English Championship recently.
The man in question is Bristol City’s Antoine Semenyo. And his agent, Tony Finnigan, has confirmed that there has been some contact with Celtic. As reported by Football Scotland, he said:
"“I had a conversation with Strachan who rang up to ask little bits of info on the player and a bit about how I found him and what he’s like as a lad.“That was it. If it’s something they’re going to do in the summer window I’m not sure but it’s nice to know that his talents are going as far as Scotland to one of the great institutions in world football.“There’s not really much more to say than that.”"
Celtic have already made contact for Semenyo
Semenyo has been a standout in the Championship recently with some of his performances. In fact, he even won the Championship Player of the Month award for January.
He started the campaign playing out wide on the wings but has been brought more centrally in recent times and is shining in the role to say the least.
But while Semenyo might be looking like a great player at the moment, the sample size for his performances are small to say the least. On top of that, it looks like Bristol City rate him very highly and could look for a transfer fee north of £10 million at least in order to let him leave anytime soon.
