It has been a long time since Kyogo Furuhashi featured for Celtic. He had put in an iconic performance in the Scottish League Cup final against Hibernian, by scoring a brace despite not being 100 per cent fit and guiding the Hoops to victory, consequently ending their trophyless run as a result. A week later, he would get injured though, in the game before the winter break, and has not featured this year.

It is safe to say that Kyogo is one of Celtic’s most important players. Daizen Maeda has come in but he just does not look ready yet to lead the line on his own.

Giorgos Giakoumakis has done brilliantly and brings something different to this squad, but even then, it feels like Kyogo is the first-choice striker when everybody is fit and available.

Thus, fans will be hoping for him to return as soon as possible. And there is a positive update on his rehab. Journalist Dan Orlowitz tweeted out some comments from Hajime Moriyasu on Kyogo:

Positive update for Celtic surrounding Kyogo’s fitness

There have not been many updates surrounding Kyogo’s fitness situation lately as it feels like he might still be quite some distance away from being ready to feature. But even then, it is very positive to know that his rehab is going well. One can only hope that he is back in a Celtic shirt as soon as possible.

Initially, it had been thought that the injury was nothing serious and Kyogo would be back right after the winter break but as we know by now, that was not the case.

It remains to be seen when he will be back eventually but his return will be a massive boost for Celtic and their title chances to say the least. There are still 11 league games left to be played.
