Bodo/Glimt defender’s major confession about Celtic star

Celtic will need to be at the top of their game if they are to get anything out of their UEFA Europa Conference League tie against Bodo/Glimt. The Norwegian champions were able to get the best of the Hoops in the first leg at Parkhead and walked out of Glasgow with a 3-1 lead. That is far from ideal for Ange Postecoglou’s side, who now face a mountain to climb away in Norway against Kjetil Knutsen’s team.

Not only do Celtic have a 2-goal deficit to overturn, but they will also have to deal with difficult weather conditions. On top of that, Bodo/Glimt’s record at home is nothing short of brilliant.

One man that Celtic will be looking towards to make something happen in the second leg against Bodo/Glimt is Giorgos Giakoumakis. The Greek striker powered them to win at the weekend against Dundee FC by scoring a superb hattrick.

And Bodo/Glimt defender, Marius Hoibraten, appears to have been impressed by Giakoumakis in the first leg. As reported by the Daily Record, he said:

"“When Giakoumakis came on, he was a bit of a different striker to Daizen Maeda who began the game.“He had a bit more muscles, was stronger and a bit of a fox in the box.“Hopefully we are ready to take care of him.”"

Can Giakoumakis help Celtic to win against Bodo/Glimt?

It is safe to say that Giakoumakis is a man in form going into the second leg against Bodo/Glimt in Norway. In fact, Postecoglou appeared to make a mistake in the first leg by not starting with the Greek striker.

While Daizen Maeda might have been the one who scored for Celtic in that game, overall, he did not look ready to lead the line for the Hoops against tough European opposition.

Maeda has only joined the club in January and has had a stop-start time till now, and might need some more time to settle in.

On the other hand, while Giakoumakis might be going into the game against Bodo/Glimt on the back of a hattrick at the weekend, other Celtic players will have to step up to the plate as well, if they are to get a result away in Norway.
