Celtic went three points ahead in the Premiership title race following their late win against Dundee FC, thanks to a hattrick from Giorgos Giakoumakis. The Rangers had dropped a couple of points earlier in the day with a 1-1 draw against Dundee United. It is safe to say that not many would have seen this coming a month or so ago, when the Ibrox side had a 6-point lead at the top of the table.

That’s how quickly things can change in football. And as a result, while Celtic might be delighted with the situation, they must also be aware that they need to keep on winning games.

The Hoops did not look at their best against Dundee FC, but managed to find a way, as they have done so often this season. On the other hand, the Rangers were handed a shock, just days after getting a 4-2 win against Borussia Dortmund.

Amidst all this, Rangers legend, Barry Ferguson, has made a surprising admission about how things stand in the title race right now. As reported by the Daily Record, he told Go Radio:

"“I’ll be honest, I’d rather be in Celtic’s shoes. I’d rather be three points in front.“Obviously playing first, they can put a bit of pressure on if they go and get the win and go six points clear.“Am I getting worried at this stage? No, I don’t think there will be much panic.“I do still believe there will be twists and turns and it will go right down to the wire.“But I’m just being honest, I’d rather be in Celtic’s position, three points in front, no doubt about it.”"

Celtic suddenly have the advantage in the title race over the Rangers

Coming out of the winter break, the Rangers were the side in control with a considerable lead at the top while it was Celtic who needed to do a lot if they were to take this title race down to the wire.

Just a month or so on and the situation is very different. Now, it is Celtic who are in the driver’s seat while the Rangers are chasing the Hoops.

And on top of that, all the momentum is with Celtic as well. The Rangers have struggled to get it going after the winter break and recently were handed a convincing 3-0 defeat by Ange Postecoglou’s side at Parkhead too.
