Celtic were handed a huge boost when Christopher Jullien finally made his return to the pitch recently. The French defender had been a key part of the club’s defence before he got injured last season. And he spent more than a year out of action, not making a single appearance in 2021. Now, he is back though and fans will be hoping that he can rediscover his best form as soon as possible.

Defence has remained a bit of a worry for Celtic this season as well. While they have improved at multiple aspects, they just cannot defend set-pieces at the moment.

And with how tight the title race is right now, that could be a massive worry for them. Opposition teams are looking to exploit what is clearly a weakness in this team.

Amidst all this though, Jullien has made some brilliant comments about the work that is being done at the club right now under the management of Ange Postecoglou. As reported by 67 Hail Hail, the defender told Celtic TV:

"“It’s amazing, seriously. Even when I wasn’t in the team and I was watching the videos that they were doing, all of the work that they were doing, the work he was demanding from his central defenders – it was amazing.“I was kind of in admiration of that. It’s a new way, it’s a new way for me of working and I’m just so happy about it. I’ve been to multiple clubs and had multiple trainers, and to have that new visibility and new way of working is amazing.“To have any advice every day from him or the staff is really good. I just can’t wait to help the team as much as I can.”"

Can Jullien be the answer to Celtic’s problems?

At this point of time, it does feel like Jullien is still quite some time away before he can start contributing to this Celtic team on a consistent basis once again. But eventually, can he be the solution to their defensive worries?

Jullien has all the attributes in the world to be a dominant force in the air and in the past, he has shown decent ability in both boxes. But at the same time, he also does have a bit of a reputation of not being able to deal with physical strikers.

Thus, it will be interesting to see what the future holds for Jullien. For the time being though, it does feel like Cameron Carter-Vickers and Carl Starfelt will continue to operate as Celtic’s first-choice centre-back duo.
