Celtic must be delighted with the position that they are in right now. The club have already lifted the Scottish League Cup title this season and at the moment, they sit at the top of the Premiership table as well, with a three-point lead over the Rangers. On top of that, the Hoops are in the Scottish Cup as well and there is a possibility that Ange Postecoglou could end up competing for a treble in his very first season at Parkhead.

Not many would have predicted that when the club initially made the appointment of Postecoglou in the summer. In fact, it was not a popular decision at all as the manager was an unknown in European football despite his considerable success in both Australia and Japan.

On top of that, it did not help either that Celtic had been linked with a move for Eddie Howe for months but it did not end up transpiring.

Half-a-season on and the decision to appoint Postecoglou appears to have been an inspired one on the part of the Hoops though.

Celtic are coming off of a terrible 2020/21 season, which saw them finish 25 points behind the Rangers in the Premiership title race and trophyless.

Thus, not much was expected of them this season, especially considering the magnitude of the transformation that the squad had to undergo in the summer.

Twelve players arrived in the summer and five more last month. On the other hand, several prominent stars like Odsonne Edouard, Kristoffer Ajer, Ryan Christie and more ended up departing Parkhead.

Considering the circumstances, not many managers would have been able to do a better job than Postecoglou. But at the same time, that does not mean that there are not areas that Celtic do not need to improve in.
