There were two very distinct sides to Celtic’s January transfer window. Early on, they focused on bringing in players and did so successfully, signing the likes of Daizen Maeda, Reo Hatate, Yosuke Ideguchi, Matt O’Riley and Johnny Kenny. Many of them have already made an impact on Ange Postecoglou’s first-team. On the other hand, they also sent out several of their youngsters out on loan in search of playing time.

One such player is Osaze Urhoghide, who joined Belgian side, KV Oostende, on loan until the end of the season.

This could prove to be a good move for the former Sheffield Wednesday star, who had struggled for playing time at Celtic this season. We have seen Jack Hendry thrive at KV Oostende in the past and develop into a Champions League player.

While Urhoghide might not have played much football at Celtic since his summer arrival, it looks like Postecoglou still sees a future for him at Parkhead. As reported by the Daily Record, the loanee said:

"“I spoke with Ange before I left and he told me he still sees a future at Celtic for me. But right now, my focus is on Oostende. We will see what happens here and will review it in the summer and go from there.“We wanted to wait and see how January played out first before making a decision but I didn’t play as much as I wanted so I spoke with the manager and he agreed with me. He sees potential in me but wants me to be playing more regular first-team football and develop even more.”"

Does Urhoghide have a long-term future at Celtic?

It will be very interesting to see how his loan spell at KV Oostende goes. Surprisingly, it is believed that the Belgian side have an option to buy included in the deal this time as well. That is a bit of a shock considering how things turned out last time around involving Hendry.

It remains to be seen if Urhoghide ends up enjoying a similar rise during his time away from Celtic on loan.

He certainly has a lot of potential and performed brilliantly on his debut for Celtic in the Europa League against an in-form Real Betis side.

Now, it is all about getting regular first-team football and developing for Urhoghide. He has made a solitary appearance for KV Oostende till now, since his loan switch in January.
