Bodo/Glimt are a great team

You simply don’t win 6-1 against a Jose Mourinho side if you are not a great team. And Bodo/Glimt showed once again that they are a great team with a brilliant away performance against Celtic at Parkhead.

While Celtic might not have been nowhere near their best and Ange Postecoglou might have gotten it wrong with some of the selection decisions that he made, the fact of the matter is that Bodo/Glimt deserve a lot of credit for their performance on the night.

On top of everything else, the Norwegian season also ended in December and they had parted ways with several important players since then.

Thus, getting a 3-1 win away at Celtic Park against Postecoglou’s in-form side, while coming straight out of pre-season, deserves to be commended.

On the other hand, Celtic will have to find a way to overturn this deficit when the two sides meet again next week, in a tough away trip to Norway.

Celtic continue to struggle in Europe

Despite their brilliant success in domestic competitions over the years, it is hard not to feel that Celtic have taken a huge step back in Europe over the last decade or so.

This is not the first time that they have been handed a convincing defeat by a team that had been undergoing pre-season just before the game.

Celtic have taken major steps in the right direction under the management of Postecoglou in the league as well as cup competitions this season, but it looks like Europe remains a worry for the Hoops.

Let’s see how things turn out in the second leg against Bodo/Glimt but judging from this performance as well as the fact that the away trip to Norway was always expected to be a tough test for Celtic, one should not be expecting a lot come next week.
