Bodo/Glimt manager’s big admission before Celtic game

Both Celtic and Bodo/Glimt are expected to be confident of their chances when the two teams meet each other in the UEFA Europa Conference League. They have impressed in Europe this season already, with the Norwegian side holding a 6-1 win over Jose Mourinho’s AS Roma while the Hoops were able to get a win against a Real Betis side currently sitting at third in La Liga.

Thus, it is safe to say that the upcoming UEFA Europa Conference League tie between the two clubs is expected to be a tough contest.

Celtic have one advantage even before a ball is kicked though. They are a team who have been active for months now. On the other hand, the Norwegian season ended in December and as a result, Bodo/Glimt are coming off of pre-season.

Thus, it is very possible that their players might not be quite up to match speed yet. It remains to be seen how things play out. But as reported by the Daily Record, Bodo/Glimt manager, Kjetil Knutsen, said about the situation:

"“We are in pre-season. That’s the way it is.“We have been in Spain for three and a half weeks and worked really well. We have a new team, we have sold four really good players, but that’s the way it is and this is typical Bodo/Glimt, so it is not a new situation for us.“The new players need time, but four weeks is okay and I think and hope we are competitive. I am not sure, but I hope.“It is something to go from off-season to pre-season. We have played two games in Spain and it is different playing friendly games than playing a big game.“We play football with high intensity and it is normal in Bodo/Glimt that we need more than four weeks to be ready to play football the way we want.”"

Celtic handed major boost before facing Bodo/Glimt

Now, while many might categorise this as mind games, it is no secret that Bodo/Glimt will be coming into the game with Celtic straight after pre-season.

As a result, not many people would expect the Norwegian champions to be at the top of their game but let’s see how things end up looking when they take to the Parkhead pitch.

It is safe to say that Celtic must not read too much into the comments from Knutsen and they need to keep their entire focus on their upcoming game against Bodo/Glimt.

The Norwegian club have already shown the quality that they possess although it must be pointed out that a few of their key players have left the club in recent months.
