In pre-season, there were hopes that Karamoko Dembele could finally break into the Celtic first-team picture consistently under the management of Ange Postecoglou. He had put in some impressive performances for sure and on top of that, the club did not have a lot of options on the right wing at that point of time. The youngster would end up picking a long-term injury in a friendly game against Bristol City and has been out of action since.

On the other hand, James Forrest has faced his problems as well and one has to feel that Dembele might have gotten some decent amount of minutes this time around if he had not been out injured.

One of the most talented youngsters at the club, fans will surely be hoping to see him back in action as soon as possible and they have been handed a major boost in that regard.

As reported by The Herald, Postecoglou gave an update on the fitness situation of Dembele, as he revealed:

"“He’s been training well.“He’s been out for quite a long time. We might get him some game time in the B team to start with. We’ll see how he’s tracking.“He’s training at the moment and getting close to being available.”"

This sounds like great news for Celtic, who could certainly do with another option on the wings right now.

Dembele has been one of the most highly-rated youngsters at the club for a long time now but has never been able to quite make his mark in the senior team. And just when it had looked like he was taking some huge steps in the right direction, he ended up picking the injury in pre-season.

At this point of time, Liel Abada has firmly placed himself as the starting right winger at Celtic and put up some brilliant numbers through the course of the season. But if Dembele can impress upon returning, there is no reason why he cannot be the back up option there, with Forrest struggling.
