Bodo/Glimt suffer blow before European tie against Celtic

Both Celtic and Bodo/Glimt have been impressive in Europe this season and as a result, they are expected to have a tight contest when the two sides meet each other in the UEFA Europa Conference League. Despite being placed in the same group as Bayer Leverkusen, Real Betis and Ferencvaros, the Hoops were able to get 9 points out of 18 in the Europa League this season and were unlucky not to make it past the group stage.

On the other hand, Bodo/Glimt hold a 6-1 win over Jose Mourinho’s AS Roma this season and are the back-to-back Norwegian champions.

Celtic have a huge advantage going into the game though since Bodo/Glimt’s league campaign ended back in December and as a result, it will be interesting to see whether their players are up to match speed when they face Ange Postecoglou’s side in the UEFA Europa Conference League later this month.

Bodo/Glimt had their last training match in Spain recently and while it ended in victory, the players did not seem happy with the performance and it did not seem like the best preparation for a game of such magnitude. As reported by their official website, Alfons Sampsted described it as ‘sloppy’ and felt there was a little lack of focus.

Bodo/Glimt unconvincing before facing Celtic

Celtic are a team in form at the moment and have strung together one win after the other in recent games. Thus, they should be very confident going into the tie against Bodo/Glimt.

It is safe to say though that they cannot take Bodo/Glimt lightly, who on their day, have shown that they can take on European opposition and win. Thus, things could get very interesting when the two sides meet later this month, on two occasions.

Before that though, Celtic have a Scottish Cup game against Raith Rovers to deal with. And the trip away to Norway to take Bodo/Glimt is expected to be arguably the toughest of this season.
