Celtic took an early 2-0 lead against Aberdeen away at the Pittodrie Stadium, only to allow them back into the game and on level terms, before Jota managed to score the winner for Ange Postecoglou’s side. With the Rangers getting a 2-0 win against Hibernian, the victory against Stephen Glass’ team makes sure that the Hoops remain at the top of the Premiership table, maintaining their one point lead.

It was a big result for Celtic for sure, especially considering the fact that they were not at their best, especially in the second half and still managed to find a way to win.

That is what champion sides do and that is what Celtic will hope to be come the end of the Premiership season. And at this point of time, there is no doubt about the fact that they are the most in form team in Scotland, even though the Rangers have bounced back from their Glasgow Derby defeat as well, with back-to-back wins.

Glass even went as far as calling Celtic ‘the best team in the country’. As reported by 67 Hail Hail, he said while speaking in a video posted on Aberdeen’s Twitter:

"“We’re sitting in there at half-time playing against what is the best team in the country who are 2-0 up. I think lesser teams maybe get pummeled in the second half.“But the players showed a real response. Really disappointed to give the [winning] goal away so quick, regardless of how it comes about, after getting the game to 2-2. But the boys kept pushing until the end and I’m proud of the effort of the players.”"

Whether Celtic are really the best team in Scotland or not will become clear by the end of the season and for now, they have to remember that a one point lead is not much. The Rangers had a six point lead coming out of the winter break and it evaporated within the space of a week or two.

At the moment though, things are certainly looking up for Postecoglou’s side as they are stringing one win after the other, even though they have not looked at their best on a number of occasions.

One can only hope that this run will continue with just 12 league matches left to be played in this campaign.
