Celtic captain’s Scott Brown admission before facing Aberdeen

Scott Brown captained Celtic to a lot of success and his arms must have gotten tired from lifting trophies before he left the club in the summer in a surprise move to Aberdeen. Since his departure, it is Callum McGregor who has taken the armband and has already guided the club to a Scottish League Cup and will be hoping that there is much more to come, with the Hoops sitting at the top of the Premiership table right now.

If they are to stay there, they will be hoping to get all three points against Aberdeen away at the Pittodrie Stadium.

While the hosts might not be in great form right now, this will always be a difficult place for any team to travel to and on their day, Aberdeen are capable of getting a result, as they have shown against the Rangers already this season.

Heading into the match, McGregor has made an admission about his former Celtic captain and midfield partner. As reported by The Herald (via 67 Hail Hail), he said:

"“We don’t speak before the games or anything like that. We’re both obviously wanting to win the game for our clubs. It’s going to be a good battle, he’s obviously a top, top player and has been for many years. He helped me so much in my development as well.“We’ll always have that mutual respect, but as a sportsman you go on the pitch and you would do anything to win, and so would he. We’ll go again [on Wednesday] and hopefully we’ll be the ones with the three points at the end of the night again.”"

Celtic need a win against Aberdeen

Following their dominant 3-0 win over the Rangers, Celtic went top of the Premiership table after a long time and then they held on to that position with a 4-0 win against Motherwell. Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side bounced back too, by defeating Hearts 5-0.

Thus, it does feel like the title race could go right down to the wire this time around. And as a result, Celtic might need to get all three points against Aberdeen away at Pittodrie Stadium.

It goes without saying that Postecoglou’s side are the team in form at the moment but it would be a mistake to take Aberdeen lightly, despite the fact that they are sitting at seventh in the Premiership table right now. They could give a tough challenge to Celtic on the day.
