Celtic have undergone quite a transformation since the arrival of Ange Postecoglou as manager. They have already won the Scottish League Cup and sit at the top of the Premiership table, despite undergoing a squad overhaul in the summer and it is hard to imagine that this is the same team that had finished 25 points behind the Rangers last season. In many ways they are not though, considering the number of new arrivals over the past couple of transfer windows.

Only two of the players who started in Celtic’s recent 3-0 win over the Rangers were at the club last season as well.

One of them is Greg Taylor. There have been questions around the Scottish left-back for a while but he has done a very decent job in recent times.

And it is not only on the pitch that he seems to be taking on an important role. It appears that Taylor is a leader in the the Hoops’ dressing room as well. As reported by 67 Hail Hail, Postecoglou told Celtic TV:

"“He’s been great since he’s been reintroduced back into the team. He’s been at the club for a little while now and I know he’s really close to Cal as well. He’s one of the ones in the dressing room who takes on a leadership role.”"

While it might not feel like so, but Taylor has been at Celtic for a while now as well. He arrived at the club in the summer of 2019.

Since then, he has been in and out of the team and never quite been able to establish himself as the regular left-back for the Hoops.

It does feel like he is taking some steps in that direction recently though. And while Liam Scales has played a bit of football as well, Taylor seems to be the one that Postecoglou trusts in the big games.

It is worth remembering as well that Taylor is still only 24 years of age and has plenty of time to develop his game further. Thus, could he end up being the long-term answer for Celtic at left-back?
