One of the most popular Celtic stars in a while and arguably the club’s best player this season, it is easy to forget but there were a lot of questions raised about the Japanese star when the club signed him in the summer.

Ange Postecoglou himself was a bit of an unknown at that point of time and thus, fans were unsure of what to expect from his signing.

On the other hand, Kyogo is not a physical presence up top to say the least and even though he had been leading the goalscoring charts in the J1 League before arriving at Parkhead, that did not stop questions from being asked about whether he could cope with the physicality of Scottish football.

Several months on and he is already in the Celtic history books, having scored a brilliant brace against Hibernian to guide them to the Scottish League Cup trophy. And according to stats from Transfermarkt, he has scored 16 goals and provided 5 assists for the club in 26 appearances.

At the moment, he is out with an injury though and fans will be hoping to see him back in action as soon as possible.

Anthony Ralston

Ralston had not impressed in his appearances for Celtic before this season and naturally, not a lot was expected from him this time around.

But with the club not having another option at right-back at the start of the campaign, he did get a run of games and it is safe to say that he took the opportunity with both hands.

Ralston has been one of the club’s most consistent players this season, showing tremendous improvement on both ends of the pitch and even though they might have Croatian international, Josip Juranovic, in their ranks as well now, the Scottish right-back has continued to contribute to the Hoops and has even extended his contract with the club.
