Tom Rogic has been spectacular for Celtic this season. Ever since the arrival of Ange Postecoglou as manager, the Australian international has appeared to take his game to the next level and is without doubt one of the club’s standout performers right now. It is hard to imagine that just over a year back, it had looked like he was on his way out of Parkhead and a lot of fans were not bothered by the idea of it.

Now, there has never been any question about Rogic’s abilities as a player. But over the last few years, he had appeared to have gotten lost in the shuffle at Celtic. It is safe to say that he is well and truly back in the mix now.

Rogic returned to the starting XI against Motherwell, after being out in the last few games due to being away on international duty, and he did not take long to remind Celtic fans of what they had been missing by scoring a fantastic brace.

Rogic’s current deal with the club is believed to run out in the summer of 2023, however, Postecoglou does not seem to be worried about it. As reported by The Scottish Sun, the Celtic manager said:

"“No, it’s the last thing on my mind, mate.“We want people here who are happy to be here and want to be a part of it.“Unless someone knocks on my door and says they want to go I’ll just let it roll.”"

Based on his current form, it is safe to say that Rogic deserves a contract extension at Celtic. And it remains to be seen whether he gets it or not. It must be pointed out that the Australian is 29 years of age.

Matt O’Riley’s arrival in January from MK Dons had raised some questions about Rogic’s place in the team as well.

Despite all of Rogic’s heroics, O’Riley has done tremendously well too and there could be some genuine competition for the first-team spot moving forward between the two.
