Things are certainly getting interesting for both Celtic and the Rangers as they head towards one of the most important Glasgow Derbies in a long time. Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side dropped a couple of points at the weekend against Ross County in a 3-3 draw, meaning that their lead at the top has been cut down to just two points by the Hoops, who got a 1-0 win against Dundee United by riding a 90th minute goal from Liel Abada.
That means that if Celtic are able to beat the Rangers at Parkhead on Wednesday, they would go top of the Premiership table.
Not many would have seen this coming, coming out of the winter break, when the Rangers had a 6-point lead. But that’s how quickly things can change in football. And Celtic have been handed another massive boost ahead of the game.
As reported by The Scottish Sun, Callum McGregor has taken part in training. And Ange Postecoglou has refused to rule out the Celtic captain from the upcoming Glasgow Derby. As reported by Sky Sports, the manager said:
"“McGregor has a chance.“He wants to play, but he wants to be at his best when he plays. We are really pleased with his recovery.“I will have a discussion with him tomorrow and go through everything with him, if he feels OK we will include him, otherwise there is a game on the weekend.”"
McGregor could feature for Celtic against the Rangers in the Glasgow Derby
It is safe to say that not many would have expected McGregor to be fit in time to feature for Celtic against the Rangers in this Glasgow Derby.
He suffered a facial injury against Alloa Athletic in the Scottish Cup recently and many rumours even suggested that he would need to get surgery. He did not look to be in great shape either when he went to the following games to show his support to the team.
But now, it looks like there is a possibility that McGregor could end up featuring against the Rangers. And if he does, it would come as a massive boost for Celtic and an unexpected blow for Van Bronckhorst’s side.
