There are huge question marks over Ramsey as he arrives at Rangers

Ramsey might have been a top player in his prime but he looks quite some distance from that kind of form.

According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has played just 112 minutes of football this season for Juventus. On top of that, he has never played more than 1093 minutes of league football in a single season for the Serie A giants since joining them in the summer of 2019.

And one has to remember that this is a Juventus side that has struggled in recent years, especially for creativity in the middle of the park. Thus, this is not a great sign for where Ramsey is at this point of his career.

Of course, he has played in bigger leagues than the Premiership through the course of his career. But that does not mean that we have not seen big name players come to Scotland in the twilight of their careers and struggle in the past.

This opens doors for Celtic in the future

It is safe to say that Ramsey is the biggest name that has arrived in the Premiership for a long time.

And it does feel like a panic acquisition on the part of the Rangers, who have seen their lead cut down to just two points by Celtic.

If they still had the 6-point lead that they held coming out of the winter break, it is hard to see them making this kind of a move.

Now, it just shows Celtic that big moves can be pulled off. Juventus are believed to be shelling out the majority of Ramsey’s wages while he will be at Ibrox. It will bring more eyeballs to the Scottish Premiership. And ultimately, one has to question whether Ramsey is the game changer that the Rangers fans seem to believe he is at this stage of his career and with the injury record he has.
