A number of Celtic players did not appear to be at the top of their games against Dundee United, but one man who managed to impress though is Matt O’Riley, who put in another solid display in the Hoops to add to the one from the previous game against Hearts. His start to life in Glasgow has certainly been very promising and the fans must have been pleased with his Parkhead debut.

He is certainly looking like the part and has not taken long to answer a lot of questions about whether he could adjust to Celtic, after joining them from English League One side, MK Dons.

After a couple of impressive performances, one would expect to see the name of O’Riley once again, when Celtic line up against the Rangers on Wednesday at Parkhead, in a game that could end up having huge implications on the Premiership title race.

O’Riley has sent a brilliant message to Celtic fans after his Parkhead debut. He tweeted out:

O’Riley sends message to Celtic fans after excellent Parkhead debut

At the moment, midfield is an area of worry for Celtic. Callum McGregor, David Turnbull and Yosuke Ideguchi are out of action due to injury. Tom Rogic is expected to miss the upcoming Glasgow Derby as well as a result of him being away on international duty for Australia.

And the club were handed a new problem in the game against Dundee United, as Nir Bitton was shown a red card, meaning he is out of the upcoming game against the Rangers as well.

Amidst all this, the performances of O’Riley in the middle of the park have been a positive for Celtic. And hopefully, he will put in another such display against the Rangers. The Hoops will certainly need him to be at the top of his game, if they are get a result against Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side.
