Anthony Ralston had been in brilliant form in the first half of the season. He showed that he had improved a lot defensively while impressing going forward as well.

As a result, he mostly occupied the right-back spot while Josip Juranovic featured on the left side of defence.

Since the return of Greg Taylor from injury, the situation appears to have changed though. It has allowed Juranovic to move back to the right and it does feel like Ange Postecoglou prefers the Croatian international over Ralston, despite the Scottish full-back’s impressive performances this season.

After remaining on the bench in the game against Hearts, it is very possible that he could get a run out on the pitch against Dundee United. And if that is the case then it would be a big opportunity for Ralston to show that he deserves to start in the Glasgow Derby against the Rangers as well.

Liam Scales

Liam Scales arrived at Celtic in the summer from Shamrock Rovers and early on, opportunities seemed hard to come by for him.

In recent times, he has featured much more often though and at this point of time, looks like the second choice left-back at Parkhead behind Taylor.

The Rangers have recently signed Manchester United youngster, Amad, on loan till the end of the season though. The Ivory Coast international is known for his dribbling ability and while he has very little experience at the senior level, his numbers at the youth level have been impressive. Thus, Celtic will potentially have to keep an eye on him in the Glasgow Derby.

One area of his game that Amad does not appear to be great at though is his physicality. As a result, would it possibly make more sense to start with the 6′ 2″ Scales against the Rangers?

Scales might have the opportunity to prove that he is ready to play in the big game, against Dundee United.
