Celtic have an important game against Dundee United at Parkhead before they can move their entire focus to the upcoming Glasgow Derby against the Rangers, set to be played on February 2. Ange Postecoglou’s side will know though that they might need three points on both occasions if they are to keep up in the Premiership title race.

In terms of the squad, Celtic are not in a great state right now. Key players like Kyogo, David Turnbull, Callum McGregor, Yosuke Ideguchi and a few others are out injured. On the other hand, Daizen Maeda and Tom Rogic are away on international duty.

It is safe to say that the situation is far from ideal for the Hoops but the only thing that they can do at the moment is move on with it.

Thus, the upcoming game against Dundee United could be a big opportunity for certain players to prove that they should get a start against the Rangers.

Matt O’Riley has arrived from MK Dons recently and already impressed on his Celtic debut, putting in an excellent performance against Hearts.

Thus, the midfielder looks like an exciting prospect. But he will have to make sure that he puts in a solid display against Dundee United as well, if he does start on this occasion as well, which he would be expected to do.

If his performance is not up to the mark, it might put doubt into the mind of Postecoglou about whether he is ready to start against the Rangers, where winning the midfield battle will be vital if the Hoops are to win the game.
