Celtic goalkeeper makes brilliant claim about Joe Hart
When Celtic signed Joe Hart from Tottenham Hotspur in the summer, there were a lot of doubts raised about the move and understandably so. The former England international had not been a regular starter for a club for years at that point of time and at 34 years of age, was no longer in his prime as a footballer. Thus, many fans feared that it was not a step in the right direction for the Hoops.
It is safe to say that Hart has already proven most of the doubters wrong. Not only has he put in some brilliant performances, but he has established himself as one of the leaders in this Celtic team as well.
Thus, Hart seems to be firmly the number one between the posts for Celtic at this point of time.
Goalkeeping had been an area of weakness for the club last season with Vasilis Barkas, Scott Bain and Conor Hazard all getting runs with the first-team gloves but none of them were able to make them their own for any considerable length of time. Thanks to the arrival of Hart, that problem does not exist anymore.
Celtic goalkeeper makes brilliant claim about Hart
Not only has Hart impressed the fans with his performances, but his fellow goalkeepers at Parkhead as well. As reported by 67 Hail Hail, while speaking on Celtic’s official YouTube channel, Bain said:
"“Joe’s been, obviously, an excellent addition to the team. A lot of wealth of experience we can take from him, an all-round good guy that wants to help and wants the club to succeed. He’s been phenomenal for the squad.“He’s definitely still got hunger for the game, you can see that.“He wants to help the squad and be a part of something that’s building here. The fans can see it, all the players can see it. Coming from somewhere as big as he has, he’s a very humble guy.“And it’s good to see he’s still got that hunger and desire to want to achieve something and win games.”"
Bain appears to be the number two behind Hart at Celtic at this point of time. Rumours have suggested that he has impressed Ange Postecoglou in training, which is the reason why he was handed a contract extension recently despite barely playing any first-team football this season.
While not a brilliant first-team goalkeeper during his time at Celtic, Bain is definitely good enough to be the number two between the posts, behind Hart at the moment.
