Celtic’s Callum McGregor injury situation is starting to become a bit confusing to be honest. The initial reaction from Ange Postecoglou after the match against Alloa Athletic was very worrying after the club captain was forced off the pitch with a facial injury. Then, rumours emerged that he would have to undergo surgery and could potentially be out for months. Now though, things appear to have taken another twist.

Postecoglou’s recent comments about McGregor had been unexpectedly promising as it emerged that the midfielder was doing better.

And now, it looks like he might not be out of action for as long as first feared. As reported by the Daily Record, McGregor believes that the knock he picked up against Alloa Athletic is less serious than initially suspected and Celtic’s medical team are optimistic that he will be back in action quicker than expected.

If that does end up happening, it would be a massive boost for Celtic, who are heading into one of the toughest and most important phases of their season.

Celtic handed surprising McGregor injury boost

McGregor has been one of Celtic’s best and most consistent players for years now and as a result, the club are definitely going to feel his absence if the captain does end up missing significant time.

At the moment, a lot of rumours are doing the rounds about McGregor’s situation though and thus, the best thing to do might be to wait and see how things unfold.

Celtic have a huge game coming up against the Rangers on February 2. With just four points between the two Glasgow teams right now, the result of the game at Parkhead could end up having major implications on the Scottish Premiership title race.

Thus, if McGregor is available for the upcoming Glasgow Derby, it would be a massive boost for Postecoglou’s side.
