James Forrest was one of the most important players at Celtic even a couple of seasons back. But now, one has to feel that he has slipped down the pecking order in that regard. And a massive reason behind that has been his constant injury problems as the winger has struggled to remain fit for any significant length of time for a while now. If he is to get back in the first-team fold that will need to change.

Forrest has already produced one big moment for Celtic this season by scoring the winner in the Scottish League Cup semi-final, a competition that they would go on to win.

And there is no doubt about the fact that when fit and in form, Forrest still has a lot to offer to this team. That has been his big problem in recent times though, not being available for selection for the majority of the time due to injuries.

The Celtic star is hoping to change that in the second half of the season though. As reported by 67 Hail Hail, he told the The Herald:

"“I’ve come back a couple of times and I’m feeling really good just now and I just want to go on a wee run by focussing on a game at a time.”"

While Celtic did make quite a few additions in the January transfer window they have continued to struggle with injury problems with a trio of their players forced off the pitch against Alloa Athletic in the fourth round of the Scottish Cup.

That is far from ideal to say the least and as a result, it is safe to say that Ange Postecoglou could do with as many options as he can get at this point of time.

Thus, one would be hoping that Forrest can remain fit moving forward. If he is able to do so, he can become an important member of this Celtic team once again. Let’s see what the future holds.
