Celtic have been linked with a number of players in recent times which is understandable as it has been clear for a while that the club needed a squad rebuild. One will hope that they have already undergone the majority of that though, bringing in twelve new players, ten on a permanent basis and two on loan, in the summer. On top of that, they have also signed four more players this month and appear to be closing in on a fifth one.

That player in question is MK Dons’ Matt O’Riley, who seems to be on his way to Parkhead in a £1.5 million move.

On the other hand, the club’s January transfer moves also mean that the club might not be going after a number of players that they have been linked with in recent times.

While some of them looked unlikely from the very beginning, others could have made sense for the Hoops under different circumstances but don’t now.

3 Celtic-linked players unlikely to get Parkhead move

Here are three Celtic-linked players who look unlikely to get Parkhead moves in the near future despite the rumours surrounding them:

Hannes Wolf

Wolf has struggled since moving to the Bundesliga. Currently at Borussia Monchengladbach, it is believed that the Austrian could be on his way out of the club soon, either on loan or on a permanent basis, after struggling for playing time.

There is no question about his potential though and Wolf had been nothing short of brilliant for RB Salzburg, before moving to RB Leipzig.

After a couple of underwhelming spells at German clubs, it might time for something different for Wolf but at the moment, it does not look like Celtic are targeting him, despite the recent rumours, as they appear to be closing in on another midfielder in the form of O’Riley.
