Rangers collapse as Celtic handed massive chance
Celtic started after the winter break in brilliant fashion by playing one of their best halves of football this season against Hibernian. Even though the Hoops were missing Kyogo and Jota was only on the bench and returning from an injury, Ange Postecoglou’s side showed a lot of quality and must have provided a lot of hope to the fans that they can put up a title challenge in the second half of the campaign.
On the other hand, the Rangers’ 1-1 draw against Aberdeen was not what they would have been hoping for from their first game back after the winter break.
And to be honest, it could have ended worse for Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side tonight quite easily and they were a bit lucky to even get one point from this game. Ryan Kent even ended up picking up a red card.
This of course cuts down the lead between the two sides to just four points. And with almost half the games, including three Glasgow Derbies, left to be played this season, that is not a lead that cannot be overturned.
Celtic handed massive opportunity by Rangers collapse vs Aberdeen
It is safe to say that Postecoglou’s side would have gotten a lot of confidence coming out of the Hibernian game, especially with Reo Hatate and Daizen Maeda impressing on their debuts. And now, the mood in the Celtic camp might be even better.
The important thing for them though is to be perfect heading into the upcoming Glasgow Derby, set to be played at Parkhead.
As things stand, it appears to be pretty tight between the two Glasgow sides in the title race. Thus, a lot could come down to the results of these derbies and hopefully Celtic will be able to get all three points from the next one.
