Celtic returned after the winter break in style to register a 2-0 win against Hibernian at Parkhead. Daizen Maeda, who was making his debut for the club after his January move, and Josip Juranovic, from the penalty spot, were the two goalscorers for the Hoops on this occasion. And it is safe to say that most fans would be delighted with the three points and the solid display.
Of course, there are things that could have gone better but that is the case in every game of football.
All things considered, Ange Postecoglou will be very happy to return from the winter break with a positive result and looking better than they did going into it.
There are a lot of games still to be played but the signs are looking good for Celtic as they aim to put up a title challenge against the Rangers in the second half of the campaign.
Celtic vs Hibernian: 3 things we learned as Japanese Bhoys shine
Here are three things we learned as the Japanese Bhoys shined on their debuts for Celtic, as the Hoops registered a 2-0 win over Hibernian:
Daizen Maeda gives us a glimpse
It did not take long for Daizen Maeda to make his mark at Celtic. He found the back of the net in the 4th minute of the game to open his account for the Hoops.
And while he was not at his glittering best, one cannot complain considering that he scored on his debut for the club, and that too early on, to take the pressure off of the shoulders of Postecoglou’s side.
It will be interesting to see though how Postecoglou fits in players like Maeda, Jota, Kyogo, Liel Abada and others into his set up, when they are all fit and available. That is a thought for a different time though. For now, it is brilliant to see the Japanese star make a successful debut in the Hoops.
