Celtic have already been impressive in the January transfer window, completing four signings – Daizen Maeda, Reo Hatate, Yosuke Ideguchi and Johnny Kenny. Coming into the month, most fans would have been delighted with four additions overall but it has looked like the Hoops might be eyeing even more players. The club continue to be linked with some new name or another every day.

It remains to be seen how things turn out for the club over the coming weeks, but it does not seem like they are close to any moves at this point of time.

Ange Postecoglou has sent out a very clear message about the transfer rumours surrounding Celtic at the moment in a brutally honest response to the media.

As reported by Football Scotland, the Celtic manager said about the current situation:

"“As we speak right now, there is no other offers or people I’ve spoken to. So the 20 names that come out tomorrow are all lies or fabrications, or people bored at home googling names and throwing them up there, or agents trying to get a bit more value for their clients.”"

Postecoglou sends clear message about media’s Celtic transfer rumours

To be honest, this is as clear as it can get about the current transfer situation at Celtic. While the manager did not rule out the possibility of making more moves this month, it looks pretty certain that nothing will happen in the immediate future.

Riley McGree does appear to be someone who had been on the club’s radar but that appears to have fallen through after Middlesbrough are believed to have come in with a bigger offer, and that is where the Australian international might be headed next.

Let’s see where things go from here in terms of signings for Celtic this month. But after Postecoglou’s recent comments, it looks like they could potentially be shifting their focus towards sending out players on loan instead.

Liam Shaw has already joined Motherwell till the end of the campaign on loan, which might be a great move for his development. On the other hand, Ewan Henderson has joined Hibernian on loan but that move is set to be made permanent in the summer.
