Celtic’s biggest problem this season has arguably been injuries as we have seen one player after another head towards the sidelines after picking up problems. The club have gone a long way in solving their squad depth issues by signing Daizen Maeda, Reo Hatate, Yosuke Ideguchi and Johnny Kenny. And now, one will be hoping that they are able to take care of their injury problems as well.

In that regard, they are not off to a good start, as one of their January signings is already injured and looks set to be out for weeks.

As reported by Independent.ie, it is understood that a minor injury will keep Kenny out of action for a number of weeks.

Still just 18 years of age, Kenny has already made a mark at the senior level for Sligo Rovers. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he scored 12 goals and provided 3 assists in 34 appearances for the club. Now, it remains to be seen how he does for Celtic and the Irish youngster is certainly one to watch out for in the future.

While Kenny has the potential to be a great signing for Celtic over time, one would not expect him to make a huge impact on the first-team picture immediately after joining the club.

As a result, his injury is not a huge blow for Ange Postecoglou’s side at this point of time although one would expect that he is back to full fitness as soon as possible.

There have been rumours that the club could look to send Kenny out on loan to another Scottish club so that he can gain some experience. The news of the injury might put that in doubt though. Let’s see what the future holds for the young striker.
