Celtic were handed a transfer blow recently as it emerged that their move for Riley McGree, which was thought to be only a matter of time not too long ago, had stalled and the Australian international could end up joining Middlesbrough instead, who are believed to have made a bigger offer. Believed to be highly rated by Ange Postecoglou, who gave the midfielder an international call up as a teenager, it is safe to say that the situation is far from ideal for the Hoops.

It does look like though that Celtic will carry on with their transfer activity and are already being linked with another midfielder.

As reported by The Scottish Sun, Celtic have been linked with a move for Algerian international midfielder, Ahmed Kendouci, who currently plays for ES Setif in Algeria.

Kendouci is 22 years of age and has already made an impression at his club. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he scored 10 goals and provided 10 assists in 34 league appearances in the previous campaign.

Celtic have been linked with another international midfielder

A lot of eyebrows were raised when the rumours linking the club with McGree had first emerged and it is not hard to see why. Celtic have already brought in two midfielders in January in the form of Reo Hatate and Yosuke Ideguchi and naturally, there are questions whether they need another one.

It does look like the club are looking to make another addition in the middle of the park this month judging from the number of midfielders that they are still being linked with. It remains to be seen how things turn out.

One also has to wonder though whether Kendouci is ready to make an impact at a club like Celtic. He currently plays in the Algerian league.

The club have made some impressive signings in the Postecoglou era though. Could this be another masterstroke on their part, if they are able to pull it off?
