Jota has been a standout for Celtic ever since arriving on a season-long loan from Benfica in the summer. There were a lot of doubts about the Portuguese winger when the club had brought him in initially and understandably so, since he had struggled to find his feet at the senior level. It is safe to say that things have completely changed since his Parkhead arrival and there are very few doubts left anymore.

Jota has dazzled with his skills as well as proven effective for Celtic and is already an undroppable in Ange Postecoglou’s side. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has scored 8 goals and provided 7 assists in 18 appearances for the club.

Thus, one has to wonder why it did not work out for him at Benfica, and then away on loan at Real Valladolid.

There have been calls from the fans to sign him on a permanent basis and the club are believed to have an option to buy included in the loan deal for a transfer fee around £6.5 million. And as tweeted out by Ekrem Konur, Jota wants to stay at Celtic.

It is safe to say that this is a huge boost for Celtic as ultimately, it might all come down to Jota and what he wants to do moving forward.

At the moment, he is out of action, having picked up an injury in early December and there are hopes that he could be back available for selection by the time the winter break comes to an end.

Jota has been one of the biggest reasons behind Celtic’s promising campaign till now. And if they are to overturn the 6 point lead that the Rangers have in the Scottish Premiership, the Hoops will definitely need the Portuguese winger fit and in form.
