Considering the circumstances that they were in when the season began, Celtic must be content with the first half of their campaign. They ended their trophyless run by winning the Scottish League Cup in December and sit six points behind the Rangers in the Scottish Premiership. While a considerable lead, it is nothing that cannot be overturned with 18 league games still to be played including a trio of Glasgow Derbies.

Celtic also have the Europa Conference League to look forward to, where they will take on Bodo/Glimt in the knockout round play-off.

The fans must also be excited by all the new signings that have arrived at Celtic this January. Daizen Maeda, Reo Hatate, Yosuke Ideguchi and Johnny Kenny have been signed, and there could be more to come.

There are some players though who have struggled with injuries till now and did not make much of an impact in the first half of the campaign, and could be like new signings for Postecoglou in the second half.

Here are three Celtic stars who can be like new signings for Ange Postecoglou in the second half of the season after struggling till now:

James Forrest

For years, Forrest had been one of the most consistent players at Celtic but the Parkhead veteran has struggled with a series of injury problems over the past season-and-a-half, which have kept him out on the sidelines more often than he has been on the pitch.

If Forrest found a way to remain fit for any considerable length of time though, he could be a feature in Postecoglou’s side.

We have already seen him make a big contribution this season by scoring the winner in the Scottish League Cup semi-final. Hopefully, there are more to come.
