Sign a new right winger

Despite their early spree of moves in the January transfer window, there are still positions in the squad where Celtic could do with a few more options. Right wing is one of them.

Celtic appear to have solid depth at left-wing right now with Jota and Daizen Maeda both capable of playing there. Mikey Johnston is another potential option. The same cannot be said about the opposite flank though.

James Forrest and Karamoko Dembele have both struggled with injury problems, meaning that it has been Liel Abada who has been the regular there even when he has been out of form. And the youngster could certainly do with a bit of competition for his spot in the team.

Martin Boyle, Mehdi Ghayedi, Albert Gudmundsson and several other right wingers have been linked with the club in recent times and it remains to be seen if they do end up making a move before the January transfer window slams shut.

Sign a new centre-back

Centre-back is another area that needs strengthening in this Celtic squad but interestingly, there has not been much talk about it in recent weeks.

The only centre-back who has looked assured throughout the campaign till now is Cameron Carter-Vickers and he is only on loan from Tottenham Hotspur at the moment.

Carl Starfelt has had his moments and had a good run of form as well. But similarly, there have been times when he has not looked up to the mark. On the other hand, Stephen Welsh is a good backup option to have but he is not ready to start for Celtic on a regular basis yet.

Also, Christopher Jullien looks set to return from injury but it must be remembered that he has been out for a long time and did not make a single appearance in 2021. Thus, it will be interesting to see how he performs when he returns to the pitch.
