Cameron Carter-Vickers has been brilliant ever since joining Celtic on a season-long loan from Tottenham Hotspur in the summer. He might not have grabbed the headlines like Kyogo and Jota have but he has arguably been equally as important to Ange Postecoglou’s side and has established himself as the Hoops’ best defender this season. Thus, it should not come as a surprise that they want to sign him on a permanent basis.

Celtic are believed to have an option to buy around £6 million and rumours have suggested that there are further add-ons involved as well.

As a result, it is not the easiest deal to pull off for the Hoops and would immediately make Carter-Vickers one of the most expensive signings in the club’s history.

But after how good he has been since arriving, they might have to do everything that they can to make it happen. And there appears to some positive news in that regard. As reported by the Daily Record, talks are progressing well and an agreement between Celtic and Tottenham Hotspur before the end of the season seems likely.

Celtic receive incredible Carter-Vickers transfer boost

It is safe to say that this is brilliant news for Celtic and gives their hopes of keeping Carter-Vickers at the club beyond this season a major boost.

He has arguably been the club’s best defender this season and definitely their most consistent, having established himself in Postecoglou’s starting XI immediately after arriving and has held on to that position since then.

It remains to be seen what the future holds for Carter-Vickers but staying at Celtic might be the best move for him as well. He has settled in brilliantly at the club. On the other hand, he is unlikely to have a starting position at Tottenham Hotspur anytime in the near future despite his impressive displays away on loan.
