We are already past the halfway mark of the 2021/22 season and up until now, Celtic must be content with how things have gone. The club ended their short trophy drought by winning the Scottish League Cup. It was also Ange Postecoglou’s first piece of silverware in Scottish football and the manager will surely be hoping that many more are set to come soon.

The focus must now turn towards the Scottish Premiership, where Celtic have done well but still sit six points behind the Rangers.

That is not a lead that cannot be overturned though with a lot of football still left to be played including three Glasgow Derbies.

Also, it might be a good time to reflect and see who have been the Celtic’s best players till the halfway mark of the season.

#3. Jota

Jota has been nothing short of a revelation ever since arriving at Celtic on a season-long loan from Benfica.

He was a standout while coming through the youth ranks and for the first time in his career, he has shown what he is capable of at the senior level.

According to stats from Transfermarkt, Jota has scored 8 goals and provided 7 assists in just 18 appearances for Celtic this season.

Naturally, there have been calls for the club to sign him on a permanent basis and it remains to be seen what happens regarding that. Celtic are believed to have an option to buy around £6.5 million included in the loan deal.

Many might have expected Jota higher on this list and there is an argument to be made for that as well. But there have been two Celtic players, who have probably been even better in the first half of the campaign.
