Celtic might have already signed Daizen Maeda, Reo Hatate and Yosuke Ideguchi this January, and are also believed to be set to sign Johnny Kenny from Sligo Rovers, but the Hoops could still end up making a few more signings this month. There is no hiding from the fact that Ange Postecoglou could still do with a few more options and there are several positions in the Hoops’ squad that need strengthening.

One area that Celtic do need to bring in reinforcements in is on the wings. James Forrest and Mikey Johnston have both struggled with injury problems for years now. On the other hand, Karamoko Dembele has been out of action since pre-season. Jota has also been injured recently and he is only on a season-long loan from Benfica right now.

Thus, Celtic could definitely do with another winger and one player that they have been linked with recently is Zinedine Ferhat.

The Algerian international currently plays for Ligue 2 side, Nimes, but he has already shown his quality in the top flight of French football. And as a result, there is a lot of interest in his signature.

Celtic handed Ferhat transfer blow by Ligue 1 champions Lille

As reported by RMC Sport, Ferhat is one of the players who is being linked with Lille, as a potential replacement for Jonathan Ikone, who has joined Fiorentina.

While Ferhat might be struggling to break into Nimes’ first-team this season, it is not hard to see why there is so much interest in his signature.

He was a standout player in Ligue 1 last season. And also, his current deal with Nimes runs out next summer.

Thus, he could prove to be a solid signing for Celtic as well although it is pretty clear that the race for the Algerian international is going to be very tight.
