The early part of Celtic’s January transfer window was marked by arrivals with Daizen Maeda, Yosuke Ideguchi and Reo Hatate all arriving at Parkhead with huge expectations behind them. But since then, the focus seems to have turned towards outgoings. The Hoops have already completed a few in that regard and are expected to continue doing so this month, with quite a few players struggling to make their mark in Ange Postecoglou’s side.

Liam Shaw has already joined Motherwell on loan in what could prove to be a great move for his development. On the other hand, Ewan Henderson has joined Hibernian on a loan deal which will be made permanent in the summer.

Osaze Urhoghide is being linked with a potential loan move as well. And now, it looks like another player could be headed out of Celtic soon.

As reported by Sky Sports, Celtic are listening to offers for Jonathan Afolabi, who is currently on loan at Ayr United. A number of teams in the Championship and League One in England are interested, with clubs abroad also pursuing a deal.

Celtic are listening to offers for Afolabi

Afolabi had arrived at Celtic with a quite a bit of expectations after his spell in the Southampton youth setup. It is safe to say that things have not gone his way since then.

His loan spell at Ayr United is up in the air at the moment as he has struggled to make his mark there. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has only scored and assisted once each in 16 appearances for them.

Thus, Afolabi is not expected to make his mark at Celtic anytime soon and a move away might be the best step for both the club and the player at this point of time. Let’s see what the future holds.
