It is safe to say that Celtic have moved more swiftly than most would have expected them to in January. The club have already signed the Japanese trio of Daizen Maeda, Reo Hatate and Yosuke Ideguchi, who are expected to help tremendously when it comes to their squad depth, which has been Ange Postecoglou’s biggest worry till now in this campaign. And Johnny Kenny is expected to arrive at Parkhead soon as well.
On the other hand, there are going to be outgoings too. Ewan Henderson has already completed a move to Hibernian and Liam Shaw looks set to join Motherwell on loan as well.
Thus, it will be interesting to see what Celtic decide to do moving forward as they hope to put up a title challenge against the Rangers in the second half of the season.
Amidst all this, Anthony Joseph has shed some light on the entire situation and what Celtic intend to do moving forward in January. And it looks like the focus is on outgoings at this stage. He tweeted out:
Celtic are looking to offload a number of players in the January transfer window to reduce the size of the squad.

They now have 35 first team players, with an additional 7 out on loan.
Focus is now on outgoings at this stage.
Celtic’s January transfer plans revealed by reliable journalist
One has to admit that there are quite a few players in the squad who have not gotten enough playing time this season. And as a result, it might be a good idea to let them leave, either on loan or on a permanent basis.
But one must also remember that they still need to strengthen in certain positions and the squad depth is not the greatest.
While Celtic have a number of players at the moment, there are quite a few of them who are not contributing to the first-team at all. And that is where the club need to bring in more reinforcements, so that they can put up a serious Premiership title challenge moving forward.
