It is safe to say that things are moving fast at Celtic this January. The club did not take long to bring in Daizen Maeda, Reo Hatate and Yosuke Ideguchi. And it was just earlier that Ewan Henderson went out the Parkhead exit door in order to join Hibernian, after struggling to break into Ange Postecoglou’s plans. Now, there seems to be another player on his way out of the club, on loan.

The player in question is Liam Shaw. And to be honest, it is not surprising that he is set to leave. He is another one who has not gotten a lot of playing time this season.

What is surprising though is his possible destination. The Celtic summer signing was initially linked with a loan move to St Johnstone. But now, it looks like it is Motherwell where he is headed.

As reported by the Daily Record, Shaw has arrived at Fir Park to complete his loan move to Motherwell. And it must be said that the Premiership club have moved quickly to make things happen.

Celtic player set for unexpected Premiership move

At this point of time, a loan move is certainly the right path for Shaw. He has failed to break into the first-team picture regularly for Celtic. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has made only 2 appearances this season, which have combined for 74 minutes of football till now.

In fact, he had to wait until December to make his first-team debut for Celtic, in the last Europa League group stage game against Real Betis.

If the move to Motherwell does end up going through, it would be interesting to see if does end up getting regular playing time there. At 20 years of age, he definitely needs it in order to continue his development as a footballer.
