Celtic have already strengthened their squad significantly in this January transfer window. The club have moved swiftly to complete moves for Daizen Maeda, Yosuke Ideguchi and Reo Hatate. All three are coming in from the J1 League and are expected to help Ange Postecoglou’s squad depth a lot. But, it might not be the end of incomings at Parkhead this month, with the Hoops believed to be looking at potentially making more signings.

One of the players that they have been linked with quite a bit in recent weeks is Borussia Monchengladbach’s Hannes Wolf.

Wolf has not managed to make the impact that most would have expected of him in the Bundesliga after showing tremendous potential at RB Salzburg and now, it looks like he could be headed out of the club on loan.

Celtic are believed to be interested in bringing him to Parkhead but now, it looks like two more names have entered the race for his signature. As reported by Fotomac (via Daily Record), Turkish sides Trabzonspor and Istanbul Basaksehir are now also in the mix for Wolf.

Celtic handed blow in transfer race for Wolf

It looks like there is quite a bit of interest in Wolf despite his disappointing time in the Bundesliga till now. And it is not hard to see why.

He had shown a lot of talent and ability during his spell at RB Salzburg and if he can rediscover that form, he can be a solid player for any club.

Also, it must be pointed out that Wolf is still just 22 years of age and the move to the Bundesliga might have come a bit too early for him.

The Austrian has a lot of potential though and Postecoglou has already shown that he can get the best out of underperforming players. Jota is a brilliant example of that. Thus, if Celtic are able to sign Wolf, it might potentially prove to be a very good addition for the Hoops.
