It looks like Celtic are going to get things done as early as possible in this January transfer window, whether it comes to incomings or outgoings. The club have already brought in Daizen Maeda, Reo Hatate and Yosuke Ideguchi, and are rumoured to be closing in on a move for Johnny Kenny. But Parkhead exits could come soon as well, with a number of players struggling for minutes in Ange Postecoglou’s starting XI.

One such player in Ewan Henderson. Now 21 years of age, it is clear that he needs to be playing regular first-team football in order to continue his development as a player.

Unfortunately, he has not gotten that at Celtic this season. According to stats from Transfermarkt, Henderson has made only one appearance for the Hoops this season, featuring for 19 minutes.

It was a memorable appearance though, as he came off the bench to score against Real Betis with his first touch, guiding Celtic to a massive 3-2 win over Manuel Pellegrini’s side, who currently sit at 3rd in La Liga. That was not enough to get Henderson more playing time though.

Henderson appears to be closing in on Celtic exit

As reported by Football Scotland, Hibernian are set to sign Henderson on a three-and-a-half year deal. He was at their training ground recently and the move could be announced soon.

New Hibernian manager, Shaun Maloney, will know Henderson well, from his time in charge of Celtic’s developmental side. And it looks like they are set to be reunited soon.

There is no question that Henderson has potential. But at this point of time, he just does not look ready to be playing regular first-team football at Celtic. Thus, a move away would make sense for both the club and the player. Let’s see if it ends up going through.
