Celtic’s brilliant start to the January transfer window looks set to continue. The club have already announced moves for Daizen Maeda, Yosuke Ideguchi and Reo Hatate, all three of whom could end up making a big difference in Ange Postecoglou’s side and will definitely add to their squad depth. But it does not look like the club are stopping there, and look set to continue making moves.

Their next signing might not be someone who will come in and immediately make an impact in the first-team, but he is certainly one to keep an eye out on for the future.

The player in question is Johnny Kenny, the highly-rated striker from Sligo Rovers. According to stats from Transfermarkt, the 18-year-old has scored 12 goals and provided 3 assists in his 34 appearances for the club.

As reported by Independent.ie, Kenny is expected to sign for Celtic in the coming days. Hibernian were also showing huge interest in the young striker and had been a guest for them at a recent game but it appears that the Glasgow giants have come out on top in the transfer race.

Celtic have won the transfer race for Kenny

It is safe to say that this would be a very exciting move on the part of Celtic, if they can ultimately get the deal over the line.

Kenny has made quite an impression in the limited appearances that he has made at the senior level till now and shown that he already has an eye for goal.

Now, it goes without saying that he would not be expected to come in and immediately make a mark in the Celtic first-team. But at 18 years of age, he has plenty of time on his side. A couple of loan spells away and he could be ready for first-team football at Parkhead, if he develops as well as he is expected to.
