While Celtic might not have a lot of squad depth at the moment, there are still quite a few players at the club who have struggled to get first-team minutes in Ange Postecoglou’s side this season. And while it would make sense for some of them to leave the club on a permanent basis, others should be sent out on loan in order to develop their games and hopefully come back to become first-team players.

The system has worked with several players in the past and hopefully, it will continue to do so for the Hoops.

There are quite a few players already being linked with a move away from the club on loan. Now, let’s see what the future holds for them.

One thing is for sure though, there could be some more movement in this January transfer window.

Here are five players that Celtic should send out on loan this January, after they have struggled to break into the first-team:

Liam Shaw

Shaw arrived with a lot of expectations after making an impression during his time at Sheffield Wednesday. But it is safe to say that things have not gone as he would have hoped for.

He has barely featured for the club and had to wait until December to make his debut for the senior side, in a game against Real Betis in the Europa League.

He certainly has potential though and would be helped by a spell away on loan.

Osaze Urhoghide

Similar to Shaw, Urhoghide had impressed during his time at Sheffield Wednesday but has struggled since arriving at Celtic in the summer.

There is no question about his potential though, as he impressed a lot in his debut for Celtic, against Real Betis, in the same game as Shaw.
