It is hard to believe that a few months back, there were huge question marks about Anthony Ralston’s future at Celtic. He had failed to impress during his time at the club till then and had not stood out during his spells away on loan either. Thus, most believed that it was only a matter of time before he would be headed out of Parkhead. It’s funny how quickly things can change in football.

At the start of the season, Ralston was the only recognised right-back at the club, which led to him getting a run of games early on under the management of Ange Postecoglou. It is safe to say that he grabbed the chance with both his hands.

Ralston has been one of Celtic’s best players this season and a regular in Postecoglou’s side despite facing competition from Croatian international, Josip Juranovic.

It has been a meteoric rise for Ralston, who came through the youth ranks at Celtic and it looks like he wants to have his career at the club. As reported by Glasgow Times, he said:

"“To come from where I was at the beginning of the season to where I am now, it’s been a massive turnaround.“I’m proud of myself for what I’ve managed to achieve.“But it’s only the beginning for me. It’s no secret that I want to play for Celtic. I want to have my career here.”"

Ralston has made a huge claim about his Celtic future

Often when players do well for Celtic, there is always the worry that they will have an eye on getting a big move to one of the top five European leagues.

That does not appear to be the case with Ralston right now, as it looks like he is targeting a long-term career at Parkhead. He has already taken a massive step in that direction earlier in the campaign by signing a new contract with the club that runs until the summer of 2025.

Ralston has been a part of the senior picture for a while, having made his debut back in 2016 and it is easy to forget that he is still just 23 years of age and there is a lot of scope for further improvement.

Ralston must be absolutely delighted with the campaign that he is having. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has scored 4 goals and provided 5 assists in 16 Premiership appearances this season.
