Celtic have made a brilliant start to their winter transfer window, announcing the signings of Daizen Maeda, Reo Hatate and Yosuke Ideguchi. It is safe to say that this triple deal will go a long way in solving the biggest problem that Ange Postecoglou’s side have faced this season – a lack of squad depth. But what is even more exciting is the fact that the Hoops might not be done yet and they already appear to have big plans for the future.

One player who has impressed immensely for Celtic this season is Cameron Carter-Vickers. He has been a standout and an ever present in Postecoglou’s side since arriving in the summer.

The only problem with the defender is the fact that he is only on a season-long loan from Tottenham Hotspur at the moment. And thus, there have been many calls from the fans to make the move permanent.

Interestingly, there appears to have been some movement in that regard. As reported by the Daily Record, Celtic have began negotiations with Tottenham Hotspur over Carter-Vickers.

It is safe to say that if Carter-Vickers’ stay at the club ended up becoming permanent, it would come as a huge boost for Celtic.

At the end of the day, there is no doubt about the fact that he has been one of their best and most consistent performers this season.

Celtic are believed to have an option to buy included in the deal although it is believed to be around £6 million. That is a significant figure and it remains to be seen whether there is room for some movement there.

Even if Celtic do end up signing Carter-Vickers on a permanent basis, the club might need to make more additions in the heart of their defence.
